The Reverend Barbie

And now, an Episcopal priest with a truly unearthly 39-21-33 figure.  The vestments don't really flatter her though.

Barbie has served as a number of different role models for young girls, but mostly she has been an unattainable ideal of femininity.  Simultaneously loved and reviled, she has survived all sorts of revolutions and changes of thought toward the womanly self-image, relatively unscarred.

She now has the chance to become a part of the oldest of old boys' clubs -- the Church.

While the Episcopalian Church has ordained women as priests since 1976, women are still shut out of the Catholic Church's hierarchy of the holy.  Odd, since a seemingly large number of those in the hierarchy have exhibited truly unholy behavior.

It has been said of the recent Catholic priest abuse scandal furor, "It's a pretty good guess that we would not be in this same predicament were women involved."

Maureen Dowd is right to call for a nun to become Pope.  It's time for the old boys' club to let in the other half of the world's population and let a more nurturing, caring gender hold the reins for a while.  Letting women into the priesthood could not possibly do any more damage than the men have already done.

And if Barbie is any indication, women will wear the role very well.
